The VSTECS Berhad Group, via its subsidiary VSTECS Astar Sdn Bhd, has inked a distributorship agreement with Applied Securities Intelligence Sdn Bhd (ASI) of the LGMS Berhad Group for the groundbreaking StarSentry cybersecurity solution.
VSTECS CEO JH Soong said: “With more than 1.1 million SMEs in Malaysia forming the backbone of our economy, we believe there is a significant market for StarSentry. This solution also aligns closely with the Malaysian government’s priorities to enhance national cybersecurity, particularly in light of the recently passed National Cyber Security Bill which is anticipated to drive further demand for cybersecurity solutions in Malaysia.”
“VSTECS has committed to providing SMEs with the ICT tools they need to stay competitive and StarSentry perfectly complements our extensive portfolio. Leveraging our extensive network of 3,600 channel partners, we are poised to accelerate the distribution of StarSentry, empowering SMEs to safeguard their digital assets effectively,” he added.

The comprehensive solution includes cyber risk insurance for every subscriber, ensuring complete protection and support in the face of cyber threats. The solution was launched by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo at a high-profile event, with key figures from the National Cyber Security Agency Malaysia (NACSA), Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM), and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in attendance.
This insurance was the result of ASI having solidified a key partnership with Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad who underwrites cyber insurance for subscribers of StarSentry. Also present when this was happening was Katsuhiko Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia.
With advanced vulnerability scanning and proactive threat detection features, StarSentry empowers SMEs to enhance their cybersecurity posture and meet regulatory requirements.
The StarSentry solution was also developed in alignment with the recently announced National Cyber Security Bill 2024, and has also been recognised by Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM) as the country’s ‘Cyber Security Product Innovation of the Year’.
“By safeguarding critical national information infrastructure (CNII) sectors like government, banking, transportation and digital industries, StarSentry plays a crucial role in bolstering Malaysia’s overall cybersecurity resilience, as mandated by the bill,” said Yong.
Earlier, Minister Gobind described StarSentry at a high profile event as “the result of this spirit of innovation and cooperation, empowering LGMS Berhad to create a solution that not only meets the high standards outlined by the National Cyber Security Bill but also embodies Malaysia’s approach to cybersecurity.”
“StarSentry was specifically developed to cater to the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are essential to our economy but often find themselves most vulnerable to cyber threats. This solution represents a significant advancement in making state-of-the-art cybersecurity accessible to all sectors, enabling our businesses to thrive without the burden of cyber risks,” said the minister.
“I am pleased that this innovative ‘plug and play’ system allows SMEs to effortlessly integrate advanced cybersecurity measures into their daily operations. With features like advanced vulnerability scanning and proactive threat detection, StarSentry empowers SMEs to not only comply with regulatory requirements but also to proactively advance their cybersecurity posture.”
Soong concurred with the minister by saying: “It is imperative that, through StarSentry, we provide SMEs with the necessary tools to protect their digital assets and ensure their continued success.”
“StarSentry is designed with efficiency in mind. Its user-friendly, plug-and-play approach ensures that even those with limited technical expertise can implement robust cybersecurity measures. Additionally, it comes at an affordable price point, making it accessible to a broad range of businesses. Every subscription includes cyber risk insurance, providing SMEs with complete protection and support in the face of cyber threats,” he added.
“VSTECS has always been dedicated to equipping SMEs with the ICT tools they need to stay competitive. StarSentry complements our extensive portfolio, adding a crucial layer of security to our offerings. Leveraging our vast network of channel partners and presence in the ICT sector for almost four decades, we are poised to accelerate the distribution of this solution across the nation, empowering SMEs to safeguard their digital assets effectively,” concluded Soong.
