The International Data Corporation (IDC) estimated that the Big Data Market in Malaysia was valued at USD18.0 million (approximately RM56.7 million) in 2013. With data production on the rise, IDC forecasted the Big Data market to grow 32.1% per annum on a compounded annual basis. IDC also noted increased awareness and early adoption of cloud-based services amongst corporations, which will also contribute to higher data traffic going forward.
