KUALA LUMPUR, 31 OCTOBER 2018 – ECS ICT Berhad (ECS, 佳杰科技; Bloomberg: ECS MK; Reuters: ECSI.KL) (“ECS” or the “Group”), Malaysia’s leading Information & Communications Technology (“ICT”) distributor, announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, ECS ASTAR Sdn Bhd (“ECS ASTAR”) has been named as the distributor of HTC Corporation’s latest products to be launched in Malaysia under the HTC VIVE virtual reality (“VR”) platform. 

The first of its kind, HTC VIVE is the market leader for hardware and VR platform. Built on the SteamVR platform and around the best VR hardware in the market, it uses tracking technology that allow users to move in a three-dimensional (“3D”) space and use motion-tracked handheld controllers to interact with the environment for an immersive and true-to-life VR experience. The VIVE ecosystem is supported by global platform, app store and subscription service VIVEPORT, a USD100 million accelerator for VR and related technology start-up VIVE X as well as VR content development and publishing initiative VIVE Studios.

The official launch of the VIVE VR System and VIVE Pro Starter Kit allow Malaysian consumers to enjoy the best in VR experience from 31 October 2018 onwards and introduces them to VIVEPORT, which operates on the world’s first VR subscription model in more than 60 countries and has a curated library of more than 1,400 VR titles. 

The VIVE VR System is priced at RM2,999.00 and customers who pre-order online and in-store from now until 31 December 2018 will be eligible for a free 3-month subscription to VIVEPORT. Pre-orders  for the VIVE Pro Starter Kit, meanwhile, will be made available from the end of November 2018 onwards and include the latest professional-grade VIVE Pro Headset and SteamVR tracking 1.0 bundle consisting of two SteamVR base stations and two VIVE Controllers.
